Extra cash is on the way to help people with disabilities in Tendring adapt their homes - but there is likely to be a huge shortfall in what is needed to carry out all the work.
Almost £300,000 is being made available by the Government for properties across the district.
But there are already concerns many are likely to miss out. The amount is only half that asked for by Tendring Council in its bid for funding to carry out important schemes.
Essex county and Tendring district councillor Roy Smith said he was very disappointed with the allocation and hoped pressure would be put on the Government to come up with more money.
Housing minister Keith Hill said it was recognised people with disabilities needed to live in a place of their own and that was why extra cash had been made available.
