A man indecently exposed himself to two young girls outside a primary school.
The incident happened close to All Saints' Primary School, Dovercourt, on Tuesday. It has prompted police, who called it a "shocking incident", to put forward an appeal for witnesses.
Sgt Peter Wood, of Harwich police, said at about 4.10pm, the girls, aged ten and 11, were walking down the footpath between Main Road and Blacksmiths Lane when they were approached by the man in his 30s who exposed himself to them.
Sgt Wood said: "This is quite a shocking incident for anybody, let alone for those youngsters to witness. It's very unpleasant and they were shocked by it."
The man is described as being of medium build and about 5ft 8ins tall. He was wearing a blue raincoat and dark trousers or jeans. He also wore a blue knitted hat with a white stripe and white trainers.
Anyone with information should call PC Darren Deex at Harwich police on 01255 241312 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111
