Colchester United could be playing in front of 18,000 football fans in its new home - that's triple the capacity of the ground at Layer Road.
New home for U's - an artist's impression of the new stadium, building of which could start next year.
The club has drawn up a project plan for the move to Cuckoo Farm to the north of the town, with a stadium that can be expanded.
It is working with Colchester Council and the Colchester United Community Sports Trust (CUCST) to bring about the long-awaited stadium.
The Evening Gazette launched its Community Stadium Now! campaign in September last year, calling for all parties involved to work together to get the project under way.
Now all parties believe they are closer than ever to getting the stadium built.
The next stage will see meetings between the partners and Myland Parish Council to ensure residents are fully informed of the plans, and to resolve outstanding traffic issues with the highways authority.
