A village doctor's surgery is to undergo a major £127,000 improvement programme to upgrade facilities for patients and staff.
For the first time in 18 months, the Green Elms centre in Jaywick will have its full complement of four GPs.
Work at the practice, which began on Monday and should finish by mid-May, will include two new consulting rooms, for the new doctors, and a new reception area to comply with disability regulations.
The extra doctors will speed up the time it takes patients to get appointments.
