A hi-tech eye device created by a Braintree firm has been picked out by the US government.
Braintree-based Medical Device Management (MDM) has designed a pupilometer that takes a picture of the human eye to help determine how serious a person's injuries could be.
John White, marketing director, said: "The interest has been phenomenal but we're still about two months short of actually producing a final product. We've had enquiries from the Pentagon and other US police forces to help with drug enforcement.
"We're due to start our final batch of clinical trials very shortly."
The device's main advantage is that it does not touch the patient's body. For hygiene reasons, other products have to be discarded after one use.
