High-achieving Braintree pupils were praised by the Government's chief inspector of schools.
Gold standard - award-winning pupils Sophie Jones, Lawrence Drew and Jennifer Walter with headteacher Simon Thompson. (40488-1)
David Bell praised Notley High School students at a special ceremony, which saw current year 11 pupils, and those from the last academic year, presented with awards for music, art, and other GCSE subjects.
Among those given the Dorothy Gardner award for creative arts were Sophie Jones, Lawrence Drew and Jennifer Walter.
More than 500 people attended the ceremony, which deputy headteacher Dave Lee Allan said was a success.
He said the school was "delighted" to welcome former Essex teacher Mr Bell to the event.
