Colchester United are battling to stay clear of the relegation zone.
Skipper Wayne Brown believes the U's are now fighting for their Coca-Cola League One status following their disastrous 2-0 defeat at Milton Keynes Dons.
The loss came only seven days after Brown and his team-mates had humbled Hull City 2-0 in the FA Cup on their own turf.
Brown said: "We are in a relegation battle. It's alright beating teams in the cup, that gets the spirits high. But at the end of the day, we are down in the bottom of the League."
The defeat left Colchester in 18th place in the table and just six points off the relegation zone.
It's the latest chapter in what has been a downward slide since their last home win in the League. That was a 2-1 victory against Port Vale in the early days of October. Since then they have recorded only two League wins in 15 games.
