SOUTHEND United midfielder Carl Pettefer was frustrated by Notts County's spoiling tactics during the Shrimpers 0-0 draw at Roots Hall on Saturday.

Steve Tilson's side were unable to work their way past the struggling visitors who packed men behind the ball to secure a share of the spoils.

And Pettefer admitted he had been disappointed by the Magpies' negative approach to the game.

"They came and defended in numbers and made it hard for us," said the former Portsmouth trainee.

"They sat back, defended deeply and it was very frustrating. We didn't create many clear cut chances and it was disappointing as well because we really needed the three points."
