A vicar who warned three months ago that a Witham road was becoming a serious environmental problem believes Essex County Council's response to the matter is "encouraging".
The Rev John Suddards, of St Nicolas Church, Witham, wrote a letter to the council in October about Cressing Road.
He said heavy traffic coming along the road was causing parking and road crossing problems for parents and children at the nearby two Templars schools.
Mr Suddards, who has received a reply from the county council, said: "We are very pleased and encouraged with our response and are satisfied that the situation is being monitored and the level of traffic being acknowledged.
"The traffic problem is likely to get worse for a time with the lorries coming from the nearby gravel site, but we are satisfied that the situation is moving forward."
A spokesman for the county council said: "The county council is committed to improving our road infrastructure wherever we can and always welcome direct contact from members of the public who can let us know their views.
"We do take every suggestion seriously and judge each case on its merits".
