A youth shelter is being unveiled to give teenagers a place to gather in the evenings.
The shelter will have seating for up to 14 people, and is being installed at the King George V playing field in Wivenhoe.
Ken Rogers, Community Safety Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinator for the town, said: "After considerable effort by the Wivenhoe Community Safety Neighbourhood Watch committee working in partnership with Wivenhoe Town Council, we have succeeded in raising funding for a new Max Hang Out Youth Shelter.
"I am most grateful to the Wivenhoe youth for their support in providing one of the safest towns in the UK. I would also like to thank the Essex Community Foundation for their advice and financial support, for without them we would not have this excellent facility that will allow the youth to have a place of their own to socialise."
The shelter will have solar lighting, providing a minimum of six hours of low-level safety lighting a day.
