Hundreds of jobs could be created in Basildon if proposals to build a major new industrial complex are given the green light.

Developers want to build an estate of commercial units on wasteground to the east of the Festival Leisure Park, off Cranes Farm Road.

Easter Developments South East (One) has submitted an application to Basildon Council for the park, including a mix of wholesale distribution centres, offices and warehouses, with adjoining yards and extensive parking facilities.

The brief has been created by Hamilton Associates, the architects who designed Canada Water near Canary Wharf in London.

Basildon Council leader Malcolm Buckley said that it was encouraging that a developer was confident enough to want to build a new estate in Basildon.
