Daniel Karbassiyoon is nearing the end of his loan spell at Ipswich Town.

But, if he and boss Joe Royle have their way, Blues fans can look forward to many more appearances from the elegant American.

The duo hope to extend the full-back's stay into a second month, possibly with a view to remaining until the end of the season.

And that can only be good news both for the player and his adopted club.

Karbassiyoon - on loan from Arsenal - has made quite an impact since his first cameo appearance for Town in their 3-1 Boxing Day defeat at Millwall.

He only played the last six minutes, but didn't have to wait long for his full debut in a 2-1 success at Plymouth on January 3.

He then made his second start in Saturday's FA Cup third-round defeat against Bolton Wanderers.

And, despite bowing out 3-1, the 20-year-old said: "I felt I had a good game and a few people told me I was their man-of-the-match, which was really pleasing.

"We did OK, but their finishing ability won them the game and that's one of the big differences between the Premiership and Coca-Cola Championship."
