Police were today growing increasingly concerned for the well-being of a missing woman.
Daphne Buxton, 65, has not been seen since 9pm yesterday when she was spotted near Clacton Fire Station in St John's Road.
There were fears that she may be vulnerable and a large number of officers were looking for her last night.
Acting Sergeant Sharn Taylor, of Clacton police, said: "We are taking it very seriously because of her age, the weather conditions and because it is out of character."
Mrs Buxton, who lives in the St Osyth Road area of Clacton, was last seen by her family at 7.55pm and she was reported missing just after 10.30pm.
Anyone with information on her whereabouts should contact Clacton police on 01255 221312
