The raiders escaped in a stolen car with several hundred pounds following the robbery at Wormingford.
The pair used either genuine firearms, or iron bars made to look like guns, to frighten staff at the sub-post office in Church Road. Cash and phone cards were handed over.
The robbers made off in a red Ford Fiesta car, reported stolen from Suffolk.
The getaway vehicle was later discovered in Holt's Road, Little Horkesley, where detectives believe the duo dumped it and drove off in a white Ford Fiesta car.
