A man whose arm was crushed while he was working at a recycling centre is recovering in hospital.
The employee of Premier Contractors, operators of the site at Martins Farm, St Osyth, was airlfited to Colchester General Hospital following the accident.
His arm was crushed by a large bucket on a digger. The site is owned by Essex County Council and it is carrying out an investigation into exactly what happened.
A spokesman for the authority said the inquiry was continuing. "The injured man who is a member of the site staff is in a stable condition in hospital," she said.
"The investigation is being conducted in conjunction with the Health and Safety Executive and Premier Recycling."
The man is believed to be in his mid-60s and from the Clacton area. The spokesman added that no-one else was injured in the incident.
