The power of poetry is being used as a tool by Maldon police in a bid to stamp out vandalism.
Maldon Town Council and Maldon police have joined forces with the aim of educating youngsters who go to Maldon and Heybridge schools about the effects of vandalism on society.
The Rhyme Against Crime campaign is due to be launched today, with each school getting a visit from Sgt Richard Miller and mayoress Lyn Smith to be told about the initiative.
It is hoped pupils will then write poems and rhymes, which will be included in a special booklet on the subject of vandalism and sold for 50p to help fund next year's project.
Maldon's campaign is being officially supported by the Gazette's sister newspaper the Maldon and Burnham Standard, and the Plume School.
