Nick Wright, a former pupil of the Margaret Tabor School in Braintree, will feature in a programme as part of the BBC's Nation on Film series called At The Chalk Face to be aired later this month.
Mr Wright was part of an English class filmed in May 1962 for a BBC Two programme The Schools.
They were broadcast being taught by Peter Emmens and blowing bubbles during their lesson.
Mr Wright, 56, of Ashdown Close, Great Notley, answered a letter in our sister paper, The Braintree and Witham Times, in October 2004, and was interviewed about his experiences of that day by the BBC.
Richard Taylor, producer of the show for BBC Leeds, said: "The sequence which had the biggest response was in Margaret Tabor School with the children blowing bubbles.
"There were stories in newspapers about what a great example of teaching it was."
The documentary will be shown on BBC Four on Friday, January 21, at 8.30pm, and again on BBC Two on Monday, March 7, at 7.30pm.
