Dedham C's unbeaten run of nine matches finally came to an end against Pegasus B, in the Colchester and District League.

The villagers, having lost their 100 per cent winning record in the last match before Christmas, went down 6-4.

Pegasus are now on the fringe of the division four promotion race, thanks to a masterful performance from Keith Clubb.

He won all three of his games - plus a vital doubles success with in-form partner Toby Turner.

Turner showed maturity beyond his years, completing two fine singles wins.

Having lost 9-1 when the teams first met, this amounts to a magnificent turnaround with Dale Everett winning two and Peter Watson and Marjorie Culham only winning one each for Dedham.

Great Horkesley D moved up two places, to join Dedham at the top, following their fourth win on the trot, this time at the expense of Dedham D.

The prolific Chris Smith made it six straight maximums for Horkesley, while their C team were held to a 5-5 draw by CRGS B, with Denise Thompson scoring her first treble of the season as their improvement continues.

The fascinating tussle at the top of division three continues with table-toppers Pegasus A winning 8-2 against Clairmont and second-placed St Peter's going one better in taking a 9-1 win against Tollesbury.

Both Pegasus' Martin Eversden and St Peter's Ian Carter won three, with Terry Betts also unbeaten.

St Mary's D remain third, three points off the lead, thanks to a majestic performance by John Sorrell as they accounted for Rowhedge H 6-4.

Great Horkesley C maintained the pressure in fourth spot with a 6-4 win over CRGS, meaning there is still a slender gap of five points between the top four.
