Henley's of Wivenhoe has expanded its business and opened a fish and chip takeaway in Alresford.

Tendring councillor Gary Scott was on hand to open the venture.

Business proprietor David Henley said: "It was in the course of serving our local residents at our Wivenhoe outlet we found many of our customers came from Alresford."

He said the village had not had a fish and chip shop for some 15 years, and recently was able to purchase the Sultana Indian Restaurant and refurbish it.

Mr Henley added: "I would like to thank everyone involved in the refurbishment, all the local businesses, residents and neighbours who have called in to wish us all the best for the future with our new venture.

"We plan to serve the residents of Alresford and the surrounding area the very best fish and chips."

Henley's has previously won the Evening Gazette's competition for the best chips, and has been awarded the national quality mark the Sea Fish Award for the last three years.
