A Colchester firm is sponsoring a young skier who hopes to be picked for the next Olympic team.
Wallis Shipping is backing Ed Drake, who has completed a very successful season at competitions in France, Austria and Slovenia.
After finishing his A-levels, Ed was selected as a full-time member of the GBR squad.
Ed has strong links to Colchester his grandparents live in the town and his father studied at Colchester Institute.
Wallis managing director Stuart Gregory said: "Ed is a fantastic young downhill skier and we have very great hopes for him. With his strong links to Colchester we thought it was a great chance to give him our backing in the hope he is selected." for the Olympic team." We are sure he is set to do both Colchester and Great Britain proud."
The money invested in Ed by Wallis Shipping will help him with his training and travel expenses. Ed is hoping to be chosen for the British
Winter Olympic team which will be traveling to Whistler in Canada for the games in 2010.
