Wayne Marshall, a parent-governor at Witham's Templars Junior School, telephoned Unicef to see what he could do to help and has arranged the ten-mile walk for February 5.
Starting from outside Templars Juniors at 11am, the circular route takes in Terling and Hatfield Peverel before returning to the Cressing Road school.
Mr Marshall, of Court Nine, Shaw Road, is appealing for support, both from sponsors and others, who would like to join the walk and he can be contacted on 07950 459884.
