Frinton's new £4,000 town sign has been handed over to the council in an official ceremony.
Planned as a tribute to the Queen's Golden Jubilee year, the sign was delayed after it had to be altered when Buckingham Palace said it could not include the royal coat of arms.
Spearheaded by the town's chamber of commerce, the redesigned sign is now in place after being in the pipeline since 2001.
A small crowd watched yesterday as David Foster, of Frinton in Bloom, which helped bring the sign to fruition, presented it to Frinton and Walton mayor Mark Cossen and deputy mayor Iris Johnson for it to be taken into the town council's care.
Mr Foster said: "We hope it will be something for people to admire for years to come. "
