No more burials will be allowed in a Brightlingsea graveyard, a judgement has found.
The Chancellor of the Diocese of Chelmsford, George Pullman QC, has announced his decision on the All Saints' Church row.
He presided over a Consistory Court hearing in November after a dispute between the community and the vicar.
Brightlingsea Town Council said it is "very disappointed" with the decision.
The chancellor's judgment declares that there is no further space for new burials.
However, war hero Joe French's application to allow the future burial of him and his wife in an existing double-depth grave will be allowed.
