THORPE Bay athlete Adam Hickey has received notification of another major Great Britain honour.
The 16-year-old has been chosen to run in the junior cross-country international in the Portuguese capital of Lisbon on Sunday, January 23.
That date will help the Southend High School pupil prepare for his British date in the junior men's race at the World Cross-Country Championships which are held in France in March.
Meanwhile, Hickey's Southend AC colleague James McLean, 14, won the Southern Counties under-15 60 metres hurdles indoor title at Bedford.
Coached by Peter Winch, McLean is a pupil at Hockley's Greensward College and helped them to national schools track and field glory last summer.
McLean goes back to Bedford this coming weekend to battle for the pentathlon crown.
