Chaos in the waste collection service over Christmas and new year in Colchester will be scrutinised tonight.
Tim Young (Lab, St Andrew's) has called for the issue to be discussed as an emergency item at Colchester Council's strategic overview and scrutiny panel.
Council chief executive Adrian Pritchard will be attending to answer questions on the service, which saw missed collections and the trucks struggling to handle the amount of waste.
Problems were intensified by the closure of the Bellhouse landfill site, meaning refuse trucks could not be emptied on Saturday.
One resident said: "The service has gone to pot. it needs somebody to call for the boss of the refuse people to take it on the chin and resign."
