Travellers have been given six months to move off land on which they have have set up camp without permission.

Councillors on Thursday night authorised an enforcement notice, which orders the group to leave the site, at Turkey Cock Lane.

They must also remove buildings and hardstanding, which have been put up without planning permission.

The travellers, who describe themselves as English true-bred gipsies, have built a toilet block at the Stanway site - despite being refused planning permission for the development. They are already appealing against that decision.

They also want to change the use of the land so it can become a home for six caravans.
