Plans for a swimming pool and more commuter parking in Braintree look set to be approved.
Members of Braintree Council's Braintree area committee will decide tomorrow whether to give the go-ahead for the swimming pool, associated parking, commuter parking and change of entrances.
Proposals for the site in Millennium Way, which includes the Freeport Outlet Village, are for a 25m, eight-lane pool with learner and fun pool, a children's play area, a new 716-space car park and 11 new coach parking spaces.
Planning officers said the site was the best within the area for the proposed use and there was not a site closer to the town which could be used.
They recommended the planning application should be approved subject to Hermes Freeport Partnership agreeing to a section 106 agreement to manage the car park, contribute to the foot and cycle bridge over the railway line and improvements to the shuttle bus from the town centre.
