A YEAR after taking over the reigns at Billericay Town, chairman Steve Kent has claimed things are starting to take shape at the club's New Lodge stadium.
With a new clubhouse nearly completed and the first team riding high in the Ryman League Premier Division, the popular chairman has settled comfortably into his role.
Having been welcomed into the club as a hero after wiping out the club's debts, the self-made double-glazing salesman made himself even more popular by scrapping plans to move the club to Basildon's Gloucester Park.
Despite the disappointment of Monday's clash with local rivals Chelmsford City being postponed, the chairman said the club's future was undoubtedly bright.
Mr Kent said: "If anybody had offered us this position before the season started we would definitely have taken it. In truth, we could not have wished for a better end to the year.
"I have achieved my main objective that I had when I took over, which was to get the pendulum swinging in the opposite direction to when I arrived."
