Extra police patrols will be made to try to stop another vandal attack on a popular attraction.
The bandstand, in Dovercourt's Cliff Park, was attacked during the summer and a decision on its future has still to be made.
The Harwich Society, which aims to look after historical sites in the town, was upset by what it saw as a delay in reaction by the police.
Now, after a meeting with a police chief, the society is confident the bandstand will be better protected.
Chairman Bernie Sadler said: "We felt they did not do enough to stop the kids doing it.
"We had quite a useful meeting but regretfully at that stage the damage had been done."
Members of the society met with Insp Peter Smith, of Harwich police, who assured them more officers would be on the site in the future.
Mr Sadler said: "We had a useful 45 minutes with the inspector.
"They would argue they have manpower problems, but it was nice that following that whinge they announced they were going to do some more."
