New measures are being investigated in a bid to help angry residents who have called for an end to traffic chaos in their roads.
People living in Clacton's Anchor Road signed a petition demanding urgent action earlier this month.
They are unable to park near their own homes and are also concerned about dangers from the number of vehicles using their street.
There is a similar issue in Chapman Road, where residents have also complained.
The petition in Anchor Road calling for a residents-only parking scheme was handed into Tendring Council.
Ray Smith, the council's assistant head of technical and procurement services, has promised the matter will be looked into within the next few weeks.
"We have received several petitions for permit schemes in different streets in Clacton," he said.
"We need now to establish the scale and areas of the problems before preparing proposals for submission to the portfolio holder. This work is likely to start in January."
But Mr Smith warned there was a formal legal process to follow before any system could be introduced and that could take several months.
