Baby Calla Saville weighed only 1lb 12oz when she was born, and spent the first months of her life being looked after at Colchester General Hospital's special care baby unit.
She has now grown to 4lb 14oz and proud parents Caroline and Paul, of Howards Croft, Mile End, Colchester, were able to bring their little bundle of joy home in time for Christmas.
"We've had a few days to settle in as a family and it's been fantastic," said Mrs Saville.
"Calla has done so well and was home two weeks before it was expected she would be well enough. The hospital are keeping a close eye on her, to make sure she is feeding and putting on weight properly.
"It will be great to be able to spend Christmas together. Calla is our own little miracle."
