Police are looking to speak to the driver of a white car following the horrific crash on the A130 which left one man dead and three others seriously injured.

The car, which was travelling towards Chelmsford, was overtaken by the blue Rover before it crashed into the central reservation and collided with a red Rover.

Colin Hobson, 29, of Stubbs Lane, Braintree, a passenger in the blue Rover, died following the crash.

A 25-year-old female driver also from Braintree and a six-year-old girl, both in the same vehicle, are in a serious condition at Basildon hospital but not life-threatening.

Two other children, a four-month baby boy and his three-year brother, also in the car are being treated at Basildon hospital but their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

The male driver of the red Rover from Westcliff is in a serious but stable condition at Basildon hospital.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident which happened just past the Rettendon turn-off.
