A youth leader has hit out at cruel attackers who sprayed an aerosol in a teenage girl's face and then set fire to the spray.
The attack on the 13-year-old girl took place in an alleyway between Glebe Way and Rosemary Way, Jaywick. She was left with burnt eyebrows and burns around her forehead and lips.
Some of her hair was also singed in the incident at 7pm on Monday last week, but fortunately her sight was not damaged.
Now Stephen Mayzes, leader of Tendring's Independent Youth Council, says its sympathy went out to the victim.
He said: "Myself and the youth council brands this vicious and unprovoked attack as unacceptable. No young person should have to tolerate and suffer an attack of this kind."
Mr Mayzes said the attackers were unacceptable in society and needed to be caught before they caused anyone else to suffer.
