Despite an honest admission that his side had "won ugly", Billericay Town boss Justin Edinburgh was delighted to see his troops move into second place in the Ryman Premier table with a 2-0 home win over Slough.
What particularly pleased Edinburgh was that the triumph over the FA Cup giantkillers who disposed of Walsall in this season's competition was achieved without key defender Robin Trott and midfield goalscorer and captain Jamie Dormer.
A family bereavement kept the skipper out of action and Trott was sidelined by the combination of a rib injury and motorway hold-up on his way to the game.
And in-form midfielder Leon Hunter was only able to play a bit part in the action as a second-half substitute due to flu symptoms, while defender Dave McSweeney impressively switched to the centre of the rearguard from his normal full-back role.
"Make no mistake, we were up against one of the league's strongest sides tonight," said Edinburgh.
"Considering our selection problems we did very well and the boys who came in deserve every credit."
