Traders in Jaywick have renewed their plea for security cameras in a bid to protect their shops against crime and vandalism.
Businesses are concerned other areas of Tendring have been helped with the costs of closed-circuit television equipment while the village is still waiting for funding.
They fear they will have to put up with further attacks on their properties unless money is found to help them.
Neil Brierley, who helps run The Stores in Broadway, said the property had been hit on a number of occasions in the last year and he was fed up with the situation.
He said: "Six months ago we refurbished our shop front. One week after that was finished, the large front window was smashed. Since then, the door has also been kicked and a security panel attacked with a screwdriver."
Mr Brierley said there was also an attempt to set the shop on fire last month.
