Southend slipped to their first defeat in four away games, losing 11-0 at Redruth on Saturday in National Division Three South.
The Seasiders made the long trip to Cornwall hoping to strengthen their position in the middle of the table at the expense of their high-flying hosts.
Kevin Harman's side, who remain eighth in the table, put in a good performance in a match played in heavy drizzle.
