Chris Senk is desperate to make up for lost time in his quest to explode back on the first-team scene at Clacton Town.
Counting the hours down - Chris Senk is almost back to full fitness after his three-year long injury lay-off. (40162-a/b)
The striker is hungry to regain his place in the starting line-up and get back on the goal trail after an agonising three years on the sidelines.
Senk, 22, suffered a horrific injury snapping four ligaments in his right knee during an FA Vase match at Abingdon in November 2001.
But now, after a slow recovery, he is close to getting back to full fitness.
He has already made a handful of substitute appearances and made his first start in Town's recent 1-1 draw at Soham.
Senk told the Gazette: "It's been such a long time.
"In terms of footballing injuries, mine was about as bad as it gets.
"At the time it was shattering and difficult to see light at the end of the tunnel.
"It's been frustrating but, with time, you learn to get used to the situation.
"I'm lucky I've had so much support from the club, especially manager Alan Dilloway and former boss Mick Potter.
"They've really helped keep my chin up and now it's just a question of getting fit and back in the swing of things."
