The number of people killed on Essex roads this year has reached 100.
Police have confirmed the 100th victim of a road crash was a 58-year old man from East Mersea near Colchester.
The accident happened as he was driving along East Road in East Mersea heading towards West Mersea on Friday at 11.50pm.
Just hours earlier an 89-year-old man from Colchester died in a three car collision on the Dengie peninsular.
The accident happened at the junction of Dairy Farm Road and the B1018 Southminster Road, near Althorne at 2.10pm on Friday.
