The Safeway store on the Waterglade Retail Park, Old Road, Clacton, is hoping to hold on to its crown as the leading sprout-selling Safeway in the country.
Last year, Clacton was voted the brussels sprout capital of the UK. The supermarket chain analysed sprout sales from across the UK and found the town ate 57,000 sprouts a week.
This year, the figures are still being calculated but if sales continue it looks set to be another bumper crop.
Gary Hockley, produce manager, said the latest records showed the store had sold 880 kilos of brussels sprouts, which is 30,000 of the individual festive vegetable.
