Long-awaited primary school area changes have been drawn up.
It ends years of uncertainty over which schools Braintree children should attend.
Headteachers said the proposal would help families whose children would have gone to Chapel Hill Primary, which shut in 2002.
Essex County Council is now consulting with parents and schools on admission changes at four schools, which will come into effect from September 2006.
Under its plan, those in the former Chapel Hill catchment group would come under Great Bradfords Junior and Infant schools. Those living between Beckers Green Primary and Lyons Hall Primary, especially in the Claypits area, could be able to choose a school.
Judith Harvey, of Beckers Green School, said it was a sensible change.
Andrew Smith, of Lyons Hall School, said: "Those children have to go somewhere so the joint catchment area with Beckers Green makes most sense."
