Protesters fighting for the future of swimming at Maldon's Marine Lake are facing another battle with each other.
Infighting among the Friends of the Prom spiralled out of control after some members began voicing their opinions out of turn at a meeting to discuss its next move.
But chairman Cate Knox vowed that the group's determination to fight for the 100-year-old landmark would not waver.
A meeting was held to decide the next step following Maldon District Council's dismissal of its Option Five suggestions for Marine Lake, which mean swimming will no longer take place there.
But the well-ordered discussion descended into "little more than a farce," according to Mrs Knox.
Some members plan to stage a demonstration before a Maldon District Council meeting today that will decide once and for all what will happen to the lake.
