Depleted Chelmsford Chieftains enjoyed a good weekend by securing a 5-5 draw at Telford Wildfoxes and then winning 5-2 at the Riverside against Isle of Wight Raiders.
In their English National Premier League clash against Wildfoxes they could only ice 12 players and were 2-0 down after 10.52 minutes.
They did manage to pull a goal back at 18.00 when Andy Hannah found Scott McKenzie to slot the puck home.
In the second period it was 2-2 when Mike Timms scored at the second attempt.
McKenzie was called upon to pull the scores level again after another strike from Wildfoxes. And, although Chieftains looked the better side, they failed to take their chances.
They were made to pay the price as Wildfoxes scored on 37.16 and 39.42, before Ross Jones made it 5-4.
A thrilling finish ensured as Ward made it 5-5 as they managed to hold on for the draw.
The following day Chieftians secured a 5-2 victory in their must-win English National Premier League Cup clash at home to IOW Raiders.
Two strikes each from Ward and McKenzie sealed the win, with Timms adding the other goal.
This Sunday Chieftains travel to Romford (5.15pm) for the first of three successive Christmas games against their rivals.
