RAIL company c2c has been named as the best in London and the south east for running its trains on time.
Between July and September this year, c2c had a 93.3 per cent punctuality record compared with 85.7 per cent the year before, Strategic Rail Authority figures revealed.
Only Chiltern from London Marylebone came close with 91.3 per cent of trains running on time, up from 79 per cent between July and September.
Leila Frances, route director of c2c, which runs services between Shoebury and London Fenchurch Street, said: "I am very pleased to be top of the league for most improved in terms of punctuality in London and the South East.
"I strongly feel that the company is going from strength to strength. We have been working very hard.
"The new trains are more reliable and this is something which is sustainable. We now have the most reliable trains in the country.
"We have also spent a lot of time working with staff so that they understand how they can make improvements to performance. Everyone should be congratulated for these excellent statistics."
