Matt Richards is prepared to be patient in his quest to get back in Ipswich Town's starting line-up.
The young defender has had to be content with a place on the substitutes' bench in recent weeks with boss Joe Royle handing the full-back spots to Fabian Wilnis and Drissa Diallo.
But he has entered the fray after half-time in the last two matches and helped transform Town's fortunes at Crewe and then Queens Park Rangers on Saturday.
He said: "All I can do is give everything when I get my chances. To start with I was really frustrated at being left out of the team. But I realise it's all part of the learning curve and I'm happy to be patient.
"Whenever I get an opportunity, like I have in the last couple of games, I've got to show the manager that the left-back position is mine.
"I want it back and I'm up for the challenge. I think that's healthy for me and the club."
