Residents are alarmed at the lack of action being taken to fix a light on the top of a police communications mast, which is used to warn low-flying aircraft of its location.
High Garrett residents are worried about the 100ft tower in their village after they noticed the warning light on top of the building had stopped flashing.
And now they are calling on Essex Police to fix the problem before there is an accident.
Peter Dyson of Gosfield Road, High Garrett, said he warned Braintree Council about it in mid-November.
A spokesman for Essex Police confirmed they know about the problem and are getting it fixed.
He said: "The issue was raised and we know about the lights being out after being contacted on November 24.
"It is being resolved as we have a contractor to do the work who is just waiting on some parts before he can begin."
