Nearly 60 names have been suggested for Harwich's new multi-million pound hospital.
The current Captain Fryatt Memorial Hospital, in Main Road, Dovercourt, is being rebuilt. Private finance company The Mill Group is investing £13.3 million in the new community hospital and health centre for the town.
Residents of Harwich and Dovercourt have been invited to put forward suggestions for the new name.
So far, 59 names have been put forward. They range from radical suggestions such as the Discovery Hospital to the more traditional Harwich and District Hospital.
Many also include the name of Captain Fryatt, who the current hospital is named after. He was a Harwich shipmaster and First World War hero executed by the Germans.
The recommendations will now be assessed by an independent body and a shortlist will be passed on to the board of Tendring Primary Care Trust.
