The former vice-chairman of Basildon Football Club is today starting a 14-year jail sentence for his part as the head of a drugs empire.
Kim Webber, 46, from London Road, Leigh, was revealed as the head of an operation involving mass supply of amphetamines and cannabis.
He appeared at Chelmsford Crown Court yesterday and was sentenced by Judge Charles Gratwicke to seven years for conspiracy to produce amphetamines and another seven years for supplying cannabis.
Three other co-defendants were also sentenced in court, with Francis Sims, from Chelmsford, receiving ten years.
The conviction followed a long-running operation by the Metropolitan Police tailing Webber's every move for months.
