Joe Royle hailed new signing Darren Currie after the winger enjoyed a sensational scoring debut at Loftus Road.

The winger only signed at the end of last week and, although not included in the starting line-up, helped change the game after coming on as a substitute for Kevin Horlock.

Within 18 minutes, he registered his name on the scoresheet and Blues boss Royle said: "Darren made a terrific impact.

"He's a quality player who I've been aware of for years. He loves the ball and is so dangerous from corners and free-kicks.

"He proved that here and showed everyone what an asset he can be. He's also very versatile and is more than capable of playing on either wing or in midfield."
