Colchester United's recent home form failed to get any better after they fell to a 2-1 defeat at home to high-flying Hull City on Saturday.
Substitute Gareth Williams struck late on for the U's to give the team brief hope of a recovery. However, they were unable to find an equaliser in the remaining minutes.
Hull put on a solid display of counter-attacking football to claim the win.
After some heavy pressure from the U's Hull's Ryan France struck on ten minutes to give the visitors the lead.
Colchester again upped the pressure and forced a series of corners, sadly none of them came to any fruition.
In the second half Stuart Elliott found the net to extend the visitors' lead.
Colchester boss Phil Parkinson brought on Gareth Williams for Jamie Cade and after five minutes on the field Williams had found the net. Hull had sat back on their lead and allowed Colchester into the game.
However, despite some more pressure they were unable to force an equaliser.
