Hull City boss Peter Taylor heaped praise on Colchester United after his side had dispatched the U's with two breakaway goals at Layer Road on Saturday.
In vain - Colchester United battled well against Hu;; City but came away empty-handed. 40017-1
Following the 2-1 victory, Taylor said: "I give a lot of credit to the opposition. It wasn't an easy game and they made us work hard away from home.
"I felt we defended too much through the game. However, on the strength of that, we defended strongly, we got our heads to the ball and we got stuck in."
The result meant Hull went back up to second in the table after a brief spell in third place as Tranmere Rovers moved above them following their 2-0 win at home to AFC Bournemouth on Friday night.
Goals from Ryan France and Stuart Elliott made sure the Tigers leapt back up the division.
